IALD Announces New Fellows
The IALD has welcomed three new members to the IALD College of Fellows. The IALD Fellow designation is awarded to members of the IALD for valuable contribution to the art and science of lighting design, and for their continued service to the IALD. Fellows are
professional members with a minimum of ten years of experience. Patricia Glasow, FIALD, Kevan Shaw, FIALD and Mark Major, FIALD, were formally inducted at the IALD Enlighten Americas 2018 conference in Seattle, WA USA.
Kevan Shaw, FIALD
Kevan Shaw Lighting Design (KSLD) Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Kevan Shaw’s career in lighting began over 40 years ago, 30 of which have been at his firm, Kevan Shaw Lighting Design. Formally educated in Economic and Technical History and Social Psychology, Kevan was the first non-engineering degree holder to attain Chartered Engineer status through the Institute of Lighting Professionals in 2012. Kevan’s achievements in the field of lighting design consist of more than 650 projects completed worldwide and across a broad range of fields. Notable projects include the Scottish Parliament Debating Chamber, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the Scott Museum in Edinburgh.
Patricia Glasow, FIALD

Patricia Glasow, managing principal of Auerbach Glasow, has designed and managed hundreds of lighting projects throughout North America, Asia, and Europe. She began working in lighting in her early teens and has been designing ever since. Formally trained in theatrical lighting design at University of California- Los Angeles, she worked for Walt Disney Enterprises early in her career. Those first years were
invaluable and served as her transition to architecture and the firm she has led and helped grow for the past 34 years.
Mark Major, FIALD

Trained as an architect, Mark focuses on the unique relationship between light and architecture. As a Principal at Speirs and Major, he has worked on a wide range of award-winning projects including the Millennium Dome, the Beijing International Airport, and the re-lighting of Saint Paul’s Cathedral. Mark acted as the Lighting Design Adviser to the Olympic Delivery Authority for the London 2012 games. The same year, he was appointed to the Mayor of London’s Special Assistance team for the Outer London Fund. Most recently, Mark completed the “Lighting Vision” for the city of London.
