Signify announces voice control for Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box at CES 2020. The latest update for the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box allows for easy voice control with Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and the Google Assistant to control your light sync experience.  The new infrared receiver feature also enables the use of standard remote controls as well as the universal remote.

Control of the sync box is now hands-free.  Ask Amazon Alexa, the Google Assistant or Apple Siri to turn on your Philips Hue HDMI Sync Box, to start syncing your Philips Hue smart lights with your TV for a hands-free surround lighting experience.

Adding the the feature is simple: update the sync box via the Hue Sync mobile app and enable the voice assistant feature to use the voice assistant of your choice to easily sync your lights with movies, music, TV shows or video games.

The voice commands for all three assistants include turning the sync box on/off, changing light settings or switching between HDMI devices.

“We are very excited about introducing voice control for the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box,” says Jasper Vervoort, Business Leader, Home Systems & Luminaires, Philips Hue at Signify. “This feature makes it even easier to control the sync box and adjust settings. We are happy to keep expanding our entertainment options with the latest innovations so that we can offer our consumers the best immersive surround light experience.”

The voice control feature for the sync box will be available in spring 2020 in an update that can be installed via the Hue Sync mobile app.

Additionally, you can now use any infrared TV remote control (standard and universal) to control the sync box, including for example turning it on and off and switching between HDMI inputs. Teach the sync box to respond to any button on your remote control via the app, or by configuring the sync box with the universal remote switch smoothly between multiple devices, making the sync box easier to use on an everyday basis in your home cinema.

From February 4 2020 onwards, the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box will also be available at selected retailers and meethue.com in additional countries: Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, Bulgaria and the Baltics.
