PLDC Terminates All Business

The organisers of PLDC, the VIA group based in Germany announced this week the termination of all activities.  The statement from the organisers:

“Dear friends and colleagues, With great regret, we have to inform you, that VIA has to terminate all business at the current stage.  All social media channels in the name of PLDC will be closed.  Take care – all the best from VIA”

This is a huge loss for the lighting design community as PLDC always delivered a fresh, intimate arena for designers to collaborate and learn together.  Since its inception in 2007, PLDC has enjoyed an impressive turnout of over 10,000 attendees.  2020 has seen some incredible organisations under huge financial strain with no where to turn.  The events industry in particular has suffered tremendously. Can events be reinvented online? In large part yes, but nothing can replace the human connection felt at an exhibition or a concert.
