The TALQ Consortium has announced that it is sponsoring the LuxLive 2020 exhibition in November.  It joins tech groups LonMark and Wi-SUN in choosing the event to promote their standard as a platform for connected outdoor lighting.  Founded in 2012, the TALQ Consortium is establishing a globally accepted standard for management software interfaces to control and monitor lighting and other services in smart city applications.

The TALQ Smart City Protocol allows Central Management Software to communicate with networks of luminaires and other devices from different manufacturers.  TALQ is an open industry consortium currently consisting of approximately 40 companies.  Members and associate members include Zumtobel, Bega, Schreder, Lucy Zodion, Telensa and Itron.  Founded in 2012 by leading lighting industry players, the TALQ Consortium originally targeted to develop an international interface standard to control and monitor outdoor lighting networks.

In 2016 TALQ opened up its scope to standardising the protocol to wider smart city solutions.  At LuxLive, TALQ will demonstrate its technology in a special TALQ Pavilion while secretary general Simon Dunkley will give a presentation about the standard and its benefits in driving smart lighting.

The city of Stockholm has also recently joined the consortium.

The Partner Programme is open to parties with an interest in global smart outdoor device management standardisation and free of charge since beginning of 2020.
