The US Department of Energy announced the launch of the next phase of their L-Prize, the Prototype Phase, which will include some new enhancements and participation opportunities for industry with a $2 million prize pool. This is an opportunity for lighting designers, manufacturers, and innovators to advance the U.S. clean energy economy for next-generation LED lighting. L-Prize will reward innovations that move rapidly to improve lighting performance, resulting in energy, carbon, and cost savings for American businesses and consumers.

The Get a Grip on Lighting podcast discusses the prize in more detail with speakers Gabe Arnold and Kelly Gordon, giving a brief overview of the history of the L-Prize, how it has helped bring innovative products to U.S. homes and buildings, and what the opportunity space is for LED lighting.
