This is an historic time when society is confronting the legacy of racism and its deadly consequences on Black people. Watch the panel hosted by the IALD for an open discussion about the impact of systemic racism in the lighting industry. Edward Bartholomew, IALD, principal of Bartholomew Lighting, Nelson Jenkins, founder of Lumen Architecture, and Lisa Reed, Associate IALD, founding principal of Envision Lighting Design, share their personal perspectives and thoughts on institutional racism and its influence on the lighting industry and lighting design profession.
While IALD membership is global and culturally very diverse, Black designers have systematically been left out of the equation. Listen and participate in a constructive conversation about what the lighting industry could do to address racial bias and racism in the industry and to promote a more diverse and inclusive profession. Take an hour out of your day to reflect and consider your role in addressing these issues and the lack of diversity in the lighting community.
