The first Italian luminaires for urban lighting, 100% eco-sustainable, and resistant to the corrosion of atmospheric agents and to the impacts of vandalism

Montemesola (Ta) –Lorelux® was born in 2021, a brand dedicated to the first eco-sustainable led luminaires for urban lighting, whose lighting body remains unchanged for more than 50 years. The Long Resistant Luminaires, acronym for Lorelux®, solve forever the problems of corrosion and impacts due to vandalism – to which public lighting luminaires are exposed – thanks to a highly innovative material in the lighting sector.

The studies conducted in collaboration with CETMA (Technologies Design and Materials European Research Centre) and combined with an innovative manufacturing technique of urban lighting furniture, made it possible to produce cutting-edge luminaires in a highly competitive sector, ideal to be installed in big, polluted cities or in areas close to the sea, rivers, or lakes, precisely because of their resistance to corrosion. Recently, they have been chosen for its historical center by Sirmione, a city in the province of Brescia that overlooks Lake Garda.

Lorelux® luminaires are made of biopolyethylene, a totally recyclable and eco-sustainable material. According to the conducted study, it is possible to produce luminaires also by using polyethylene deriving from clean and homogeneous production waste or selected and post-consumer polyethylene.

“The use of a secondary raw material” explains Giuseppe Vendramin, Technical Director, “Allows minimizing waste and applying the virtuous circular economy model in the public lighting sector. Therefore, Lorelux® is the perfect combination of the circularity and sustainability parameters required by current European recovery and resilience plans RRF”.

The production technique allows obtaining highly customized designs and the creation of any geometric shape. In this way, Lorelux® luminaires guarantee, at the same time, environmental sustainability and customized design – also in case of limited batches – with no constraints in the possible geometries.

“There are no design or color limits, it is possible to mold them in the most imaginative and original shapes, giving space to designer’s creativity and to the distinctive abilities of the municipalities that choose them.”

Lorelux® is born in the heart of the Ionian territory, from the ten years’ experience of Niteko, an innovative company in the Led lighting sector. Its founders were the first in the world, in 2007, to show the first street lighting prototypes with power LED technology in an IEEE international conference in Hammamet, Tunisia, – from which derives the scientific article “Led-based Public Lighting System Reliability for a Reduced Impact on Environment and Energy Consumption”.

From that moment on, its R&D department has never stopped and today it has developed the technology that preserves urban lighting luminaires – installed along the promenades and in aggressive environments – from corrosion and decay, providing an eco-sustainable solution to the needs of Italian territory and of lighting market.
