Alfonso Femia has been recognised by the German Design Awards 2020 for Drop by Drop, an iconic modern design for IGUZZINI.

“A wire capable of drawing in a continuous manner a volume of light or reverberate the space to its contour. A light that seeks dialogue with its surroundings and in the fall, in the suspension, search its balance between line and surface, between the point and volume. It hardly wants to stand alone, it anticipates or accompanies a rhythm, a sequence, an idea of slow vertical movement, drop by drop, moment by moment.”

“The extraordinary drop shape of the pendant luminaire works particularly well with the optional chrome finish that reflects the surrounding space in an elegant and glamorous way. A beautiful and highly decorative luminaire that can be installed individually or in groups.” German Design Awards jury panel.

The luminaire, designed by Alfonso Femia, seeks to recreate the ephemeral form of a drop of water by simulating a slow vertical movement. LED, OptiBeam reflectors and DALI protocol guarantee visual comfort and high efficiency in both the chrome-plated version for accent lighting and the opal variant for general lighting.

Drop by Drop delivers contemporary value. It is not a product but infinite light and spatial solutions. It can create completely different effects if installed by itself or in a group, moving from an intimate to a collective dimension, or if installed in offices, retail spaces or domestic environments.  Two versions are available, accent lighting or general lighting, both with LED technology and Opti Beam reflectors to ensure comfort and efficiency, both for concentrated and diffused lighting.
