Casper, who are best known as the company that popularised the mattress-in-a-box concept, have taken a step ‘outside-the-box’, and released a lamp. Not just your standard bedside lamp: the Glow has been designed to focus on delivering the perfectly lit environment for sleep. Jeff Chapin, Chief of Product at Casper, states that “all the environmental factors in the bedroom play a big role in falling asleep.”

The Casper Glow might look like a normal lamp, but it’s actually a smart light designed to dim and brighten with the users’ circadian rhythms, in the hopes of giving a better night’s rest. By using the app to manage the Glow settings, owners can create and manage Glow groups, and schedule their wake up times and patterns.
This is not a new concept in lighting design, but it is a big step in consumer education about Human Centric Lighting (HCL).

Casper are one of the first non-tech consumer brand to crossover in the HCL space, an area once reserved for the lighting ‘experts’. With the increase in consumer awareness of the health benefits of HCL I am sure we will see many more like Casper in the coming years, diversifying their products portfolios into this area of light and lighting design.
